From the safety of my room, I can look out; I can see whatever I wish, whenever I wish. From the safety of my room, I create an idyllic illustration of the environment my spirit requires. Sheltering trees wave to me in the wind, their branches rustling morning Hello's, honeysuckle mingles seductively with the savage undergrowth, and an azure sky finds satisfaction in serving merely as a promiscuous monarch to its subjects below. This - is my "Window," my preferential treatment of the world when life is too harsh to accept on its unyielding terms. It is my escape - my reprieve from reality; it is my ability to divine the strength I need in any particle of beauty that has ever inhabited a corner of my mind. It is my momentary rearrangement of priorities when I am in doubt; it is my imagination - it is my Skylight to the Stars..… |
