Rustling voices on the wind, a shiver down my spine. "Is that you, my sister?" still looking out for me - even when you're gone? As affirmation, comes a song on the radio, a reminder that I'm not alone. "Is that you, my sister, your rustling voice I hear?" I sit quietly in the car and wait for the song to end. Tears threaten, then fall slowly, gently, as I watch the leaves drift and blow in the breeze. They're doing the same dance my heart is doing - twisting, turning, going up and down, before falling to the earth to provide nurture for the coming season. There is a joy of life in the dance - even as they fall to their ending. It was a healing experience, my sister; to feel your spirit while I drank coffee with a friend; to share a song in a car; to watch the leaves do their dance to life. I too, must learn how to dance. It's time to stop grieving and learn from the leaves, how to do the dance to life... Copyright 2000 Mary Kelly |
